Once, in a glass workshop in Montreal, I saw a demonstration of a vase being made by a master glass maker.  While it was being heated, the incandescent raw material reflected a rainbow of colors that was almost white and rapidly changed to gold, read, yellow and finally dark blue.  This is my interpretation of what I saw then.
